Spring has Sprung!

It is official, Spring has sprung in My Shop.
This morning Cotton and I hung my salon art. I was so thankful for him and that he was so willing to help me get this on the wall.
Mike and I went to Home Depot last weekend and purchased everything we needed to hang my project for under $20.
The small Hydrangea is from Farmer Grant's Vineyard Garden Center, isn't she lovely? Have a great weekend!

Ready to hang

Finished this fun quilt yesterday. I washed it and I love how puckery it looks and feels. I now communicate with my husband through my blog since he and I have opposite schedules, Honey, Do you think we could go to Home Depot tonight and look for something to hang this quilt on the wall of my salon? Have HOPE for Heaven's sake

Yesterday I took Valentine's down and put a little Spring in my front room. Nothing too Springy but just enough to help me remember that it will come sooner or later and to have HOPE.
Put something that says Spring in your home today where you will see it often, oh, and my sweet sis told me the Reese's peanut butter Whoppers were a winner so while purchasing the mini eggs I purchased the Whoppers and oh my heaven's!... They are not bad either. Have a great weekend.

My pick for 2009 as well would be this young, thoughtful, encouraging Danny Dokey, only I shall call him Daniel Donkey. He sings hope for a country that needs it right now. If he can be positive after what life has dealt him lately, then I think we all can. Sing it to me Daniel.

It is official...

It is official, today I purchased the first bag of Cadbury mini eggs while shopping at the local Wal-Mart. Justus and I absolutely love the mini eggs and I know that Lori doesn't think they are bad either. Even though snow may still be on the ground I have been inspired to take down the Valentine's decor and tomorrow I will bring out some Sspring things to go with the Spring mini eggs.
I suggest you all go purchase a bag before they all get bought up... oh, you are on a diet so you can look 'scent'sational? Then perhaps you will have to chose mashed cauliflower instead (sorry Annie).

Tristan's first shave

Mike told Tristan last summer that he could grow a beard and musthache as long as he kept his hair short and clean.
Tristan loved this idea, it made him think of Forrest Gump's beard. He had one long hair on the end of his chin and I wanted to pluck it when the light caught it just right. Then all of a suddent there were 3 chin hairs... Tristan felt quite manly.
And the mustache and side burns?, they were growing nicely in their blonde, soft glory.
Well, yesterday I was in the kitchen and Mike ran in like an excited child on Christmas morning whispering, "Vickie, I got Tristan to shave!" He grabbed the camera and I followed him into the bathroom and it was true, Tristan was shaving.
I so wanted to be the one to remove those 3 chin hairs!
Now Tristan thinks it is cool to feel the stubble of his 'stache' with his tongue. Whatever! He is such a great kid!

Sweetheart's 2009

My son, first born, apple o' my eye went to the girl's choice Sweetheart dance this past Valentine's Day. As a mom there were mixed feelings but I was very excited for him. They started with a day date at 12:00 and then the gals brought the boys back home so they could get ready for the dance. Carissa arrived at 4:30 with her cute little black dress and a mask painted on her eyes (the theme was Masquerade). They had a great time and I enjoyed hearing about the events after.

Mike is dat man.
He does everything he does for me and our family.

He makes delicious breakfasts for us.

Now,
He is always concerned for me and my happiness, safety, and well being.
He will eat at Cafe' Rio if that is where I want to eat.
He will go to JCW's and get a shake with me at the drive thru, even though he isn't an Ice cream man.
He used to rub my feet for me before he worked graveyards.
He is dat man.

Help with remembering names

Sometimes I have a hard time remembering the names of people I meet. I don't know if it is because I am thinking about what I want to say to them or if I just don't have the part of my brain any more that helps me store this information. I was so thankful when I saw this episode of the office, it truly has helped me. I hope you can benefit from this as well.

Sharing the Love

Well tonight I am sharing the love with Scentsy consultants who are coming to my home for a training meeting. I have purchased yummy melting chocolate to put in the chocolate fountain and raspberries and oreos to dip. Everyone has been asked to bring something for the fountain.

I am excited to have this meeting and visit with team members and I am also excited to get it over with. We have door prizes and a couple of booby prizes (Last year's scent of the month for February - Truffles (gross, who thought of that one?).

Have a 'scent'sational evening.

HOME

I love home. I love my kitchen where I can make delicious food for my family, I love baking cookies or bread before my boys come home from school so they can smell something yummy when they walk in the door.

I love my sitting room. I love to sit on the couch with my cat Huck and look out the window together. I love to watch his tail twitch when he sees a bird or another cat.

I love my bedroom. I love going into my bedroom when there are no clothes waiting to be folded and put away.

I love my Scentsy room, especially when it is clean and organized, which it is not.

I love that I have my family to share a home with.

Salon Art

I am working on this fun quilt to hang on the wall in my salon. So excited to start Stippling it, maybe tomorrow night, maybe not. I love the clean white sashing, It reminds me of before I became a Mom and I loved wearing white blouses. They always looked fresh and clean. I used Charisma by Moda charm packet for the middle squares and then picked some of the prints to go around the square. I'll show it to you on the wall when it is finished.

Earth hath no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal

My sister stitched this cutie probably a decade ago and our handsome Dad crafted the frame.
When my sister and I visit each other and it is time to go we like to give the one visiting a "souvenier" to take to home to remind her of the other. Well, we see each other at least twice a year and so we each have many treasures that the other has given. This is my favorite! I love the detail in this stitchery and I love that I know that my sister's hands made it. I know how excited she must have felt when she finished this beautiful heirloom. Anyway, I see this daily and I love the passage it bears -Earth hath no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal. Wow, that is great!

Fishsimmons

Yesterday, Mike took the boys ice fishing at Strawberry Resevoir. Can I tell you the excitement I felt as they drove off and I realized I could do whatever I wanted, listen to whatever music I wanted to listen to at whatever volume I preferred?

They had a great time and they said that the fishing shanty was very warm inside. They caught two beautiful fish that we will be having for dinner tonight. I better run to the store and pick up some stuffing. Mike loves stuffing with his fish.

Yesterday was a beautiful day and I am feeling like Spring will come one day and I shall shed a tear when I see the first buds on my trees and the bulbs start peeking their leaves out of the earth towards the sun. Blah, blah, blah.

Justus was the first haircut done in my salon and then Tristan.

I knew it was a real salon as soon as I filled the Barbacide jar with solution and added my cutting combs.

My husband worked very hard to create this room for me and my Dad helped out alot.
