Life is good

Well, this morning my sister left on a jet plane and I don't know when she'll be back again and I already miss her, we had so much fun together and with our mom and dad too.
So, as soon as my sister left the building I started making Strawberry freezer jam. I ended up with 19 pints and I am just tickled with the yield.
Would you take a look at my finished Bohemian bag, this is a cutie and I will tell you it took a little work to finish, but I love it! I think in the fall I will make another. I am so thankful for my sister Lori and I am glad she had the opportunity to come to Utah and relax a little, I think she may be in for a few awesome changes with her family (wink, wink).

Purses

O.K., I think these will be the main projects for Lori, Mom and me for this get-together. Mom and Lori are making a Birdie Sling bag and I am making a Bohemian bag. We shopped for fabric together and we have been working off and on for the last 3 days on these. I think we might finish them before Lori goes home on the
30th. Wish us luck.
P.S. Lori and I met my husband Mike at the Draper Temple and went through a session together, after we had lunch at Olive Garden and had a wonderful day. I love my husband, he is a great guy.

Tulips

When my sister and her sister-in-law Devra arrived Tuesday we had lunch at the Paradise Bakery and somehow our conversation went in the direction of vaginas, I think what provoked this was a sign for an Italian restaraunt with the name La Vigna. Anyway, I proposed that the vagina be referred to as a flower name such as an 'Orchid' (isn't that prettier than vagina?), or what about a Tulip?

Flip Flops

Sister and I went to the mall today in search of our official 2009 flip flops. After stopping at See's for 2 rum nougats each we decided on the Vans flip flops. Due to the recession we were more frugal than usual on this purchase and we both feel very good about that. Tomorrow we are going to meet my husband at the Draper Temple and I am so excited for Lori to see it inside.

Gardner Village

Today Mom, Dad, Lori and I ventured to Gardner Village and we had great fun. These pics of Dad, Lori and me are funny to look at because we were taking turns holding the camera out in front of us and trying to get us all in the pic. We giggled so hard at ourselves when we checked out the pics, then finally an innocent bystander helped us out and got all three of us in a pic.
Aren't my Mom and Dad such a cute couple?

Let's get physical

After enjoying that delicious trifle I thought I'd better get out and get moving, so I stretched and ran 4 miles, NOT.
I borrowed this pic from Fat & Sassy & Mr. Wonderful, my niece Shawny's boyfriend's mom's blog. She is so funny I laugh out loud when reading her blog. You can check Keola's blog out at fatsassyandmrwonderful.blogspot.com.

Spring Trifle

This was a delicious Easter Sunday dessert that is easy to make.

Strawberry Spring Trifle
Bake one white cake mix according to directions, let cool completely and cut into bitesize squares.

2 pounds strawberries washed and quartered

one large box vanilla pudding
one 14.5 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
one cup cold milk
whisk above 3 ingredients for 2 minutes and then fold in
one small tub cool whip.

In trifle bowl layer pudding, cake, and strawberries, repeat and end with pudding.
Yummy Clark!

Why Weepest Thou?

This is a beautiful piece by Liz Lemon Swindle that I love this time of the year. You can feel the pain that Mary feels when she see's Christ's body is not in the tomb. Can you imagine the joy she is about to feel when Christ asks her "Why weepest though?" and she realizes he lives again!

HE LIVES AGAIN!

HAPPY EASTER

Conference cinnamon rolls

My sister makes cinnamon rolls for each General Conference, therefore I must make cinnamon rolls for every General Conference. My family looks forward to this tradition more than I do, but when I actually get to the process I enjoy making them. Justus ate 2 in about 4 minutes and Mike and I had to tell him no more for fear that his stomach would blow. I love my family and I know they will always remember cinnamon rolls at conference time.

Bunnies prefer chocolate

After 3 consecutive Springs of working on this applique quilt I am terribly excited to say "I HAVE FINISHED BUNNIES PREFER CHOCOLATE!" I fell in love with this quilt 3 years ago and had so much fun with my Mom finding the materials to make it, then came the three Springs of working on it and I loved watching each square come to life. We both finished our bunny quilts this Spring and I love them. Bunnies may prefer chocolate, but I prefer chocolate bunnies.

Pickled Eggs

Aren't these just beautiful?, My mother-in-law posted the recipe for these pickled eggs on her blog and I was so excited to try making them, I love pickled eggs! If you would like the recipe go to grammyshappyplace.blogspot.com.

Grandpa Pineda

Last night I had the opportunity to say goodbye to my Grandpa Pineda. He passed away just before midnight from heart failure, he was 85. Grandpa was the last surviving granparent and now that generation is gone. It is a sad time when you have an entire generation no longer on this earth.
This morning I had the opportunity to go to a session at the Draper Temple. I felt peace there and I am thankful for the opportunity to be there. The members that volunteer at the temple were so kind, sweet, and loving, I felt right at home.
I know my Grandpa Pineda is in a wonderful place and I am glad for him.
